I built a sturdy castle
Who is the Rock, except our God?
Psalm 18:31
I built a sturdy castle
Smoothed it firm with skilful hand,
Each gate and moat and battlement
With cunning tactic planned,
Then from the top a challenge flew
Across the shining sand.
The sea rolled softly to my gate-
It didn't pause to knock
But whispered
" Child, these grains are mine-
Go find a safer Rock,
A fortress built by wiser hands
A faith with stronger lock."
